Lot #693
This white sided Canadian hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Yvan Cournoyer. The Roadrunner had an illustrious career spending all 16 of his seasons as a member of Les Habitants. Yvan became Montreal’s Team Captain upon the retirement of Henri Richard following the 1974-75 season. In all four of his seasons as team Captain, he guided his Canadien’s to a Stanley Cup championship, spanning 1975-76 thru 1978-79.

This was a team considered by many to be hockey’s greatest all-time dynasty. Cournoyer posted 428 career goals and was a member of 10 Stanley Cup winning squads in 16 years. His immense talent earned him four 2nd Team NHL All Star berths in addition to partaking in 6 NHL All Star games. He was an integral part of Team Canada’s 1972 Summit Series victory. In addition, Yvan was the 1973 Conn Smythe winner as the playoffs Most Valuable Player. Yvan was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame following the mandatory waiting period on his first ballot.

This white sided Canadian hockey stick has the player “Y. Cournoyer” stamped to the side. Also on the same side is the player number and name “12 Yvan Cournoyer”. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. The stick does have a crack in the heel which is now supported by clear wrap.
