Description
Wayne Rivers WHA Raiders Dominion Game Used Stick - Autographed
Lot #323

Several years ago we had the occasion to meet Barry Rednor and his lovely wife Beve. Alan spent quite a bit of time with them at their home and was amazed at what Barry had managed to keep from his WHA days. Barry served on the Board of Directors for the New York Raiders who became the New York Golden Blades and then the New Jersey Knights. Through this affiliation, Barry had the occasion to collect numerous items from the Raiders, Golden Blades, Knights and the WHA in general. The stories that Barry shared with Alan were priceless, and really shed plenty of light on the early years of the WHA. Sadly, Barry passed away not long after we had gotten to know him. He is missed. It is with great admiration that we offer this item direct from Barry Rednor’s personal collection.

This Dominion hockey stick was game used by Wayne Rivers while playing for the 1972-73 New York Raiders.  Wayne was back and forth from juniors to the NHL quite a bit between 1961-62 and 1968-69, playing for the Red Wings, Bruins, Blues and Rangers.  After a few more years in juniors, he joined the Raiders for the 1st year of the WHA.  Wayne was a hit in the WHA and played for the Raiders/Golden Blades/Knight/Mariners franchise every year of their existence.   In 357 WHA games, Wayne scored 158 goals and had 334 points.  He was the third leading scorer for the Raiders with 37 goals and even scored 54 goals with the 1974-75 Mariners.

This Dominion hockey stick is fully taped on the butt and blade.  Ths player name "Rivers" is stamped in the side.  The stick has been personally signed to Barry on the side in pen "To Barry Best Wishes Wayne Rivers".
