Wayne Cashman 1974 NHL All Star Game Jacket
Lot #554
This beautiful heavy leather and wool jacket was originally part of the Wayne Cashman collection. Uncertain about its exact origins, we are attributing this jacket to the 1974 NHL All Star Game in Chicago. Cashman spent all of his 17 NHL seasons with the Boston Bruins, never donning the sweater of any rival club. Wayne was the heart and soul of the Big Bad Bruins, winning 2 Stanley Cups and playing in the Finals in three other seasons during their glory years in the 1970’s. Cash was a 2nd team NHL All Star in 1974 and made an appearance in the NHL All Star game that season as well. He also represented Team Canada in the historic 1972 Summitt Series where Canada defeated the Soviets in dramatic fashion. To his credit are better than 1000 regular season games played while wearing the black and gold. During that span he racked up in excess of 1000 PIMS while netting 277 goals. Looking at Cashman’s plus/minus totals can leave you in awe, with his best 5 years coming in at +59, +49, +42, +34 and +30. During playoff time Cash ramped things up, scoring 31 goals and 88 points while accumulating 250 PIMS in 145 games played. Any Bruins fight tape from the glory years is undoubtedly filled with highlights of Cashman wailing on some poor opponent. When Cash retired following the 1982-83 season, he was the last remaining player from the Original 6.

This heavy leather and wool jacket has the player name “Wayne” stitched on the right breast. The player number “14” is stitched on the left sleeve. The American and Canadian Flags are stitched on the right sleeve. According to our consignor, this jacket was originally acquired directly from Wayne Cashman's personal collection a number of years ago. There was two times during Wayne's career that we can find him wearing the player #14. The first was during the 1972 Summit Series. The other time was the 1974 NHL All Star Game in Chicago. Hall of Famer Yvan Cournoyer wore the #12 during each of these events. Being that this exemplar does not match any of the Summit Series jackets to surface in the hobby, not to mention the American Flag, we are attributing it to the 1974 All Star Game, as the jacket most certainly appears to be a 1970's vintage.
