Tom Barrasso Pittsburgh Penguins Black Heaton Game Used Stick
Lot #470

This black Heaton Pro 90Z hockey stick was game used by Tom Barrasso while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Buffalo Sabres selected Barrasso with the 5th overall pick in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. This Boston Massachusetts native enjoyed a stellar career that began with the Sabres in 1983-84 and was so honored with the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year and the Vezina Trophy as league’s best goaltender that rookie season. Barrasso then shared the Jennings Trophy the following season with his teammate Bob Sauve. Barrasso was 3 times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star and played in the NHL All Star game in 1985. Tom represented Team USA in the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups. He won 2 Stanley Cups during his career, both with the Pittsburgh Penguins who acquired Tom from the Sabres in 1988-89. Tommy led the Pens to back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 1990-91 and 1991-92. The following year he led the all NHL goalies in wins with 43.

The 1992-93 season looked like it would be a 3-peat for the mighty Pens, but they fell in an overtime game 7 shocker in the playoffs to derail the would-be dynasty. During his career Barrasso won an impressive 369 games, good for 15th on the all-time list. During his playing days, in addition to the Sabres and Penguins, Tom also backstopped the Senators, Hurricanes, Maple Leafs and Blues. Already part of the USA Hockey Hall of Fame, a compelling case will surely be made for Hockey Hall of Fame induction for Barrasso in the years to come.

This black Heaton stick has the player name “T. Barrasso” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
