Description
Tim Horton Signed Autograph Book Page - JSA Letter
Lot #308

An absolutely stunning Tim Horton signature on a single page from an autograph book signed in the later 1960's.  Horton played 22 seasons in the NHL for the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Penguins and Sabres.  Horton owns the Maple Leafs record for most consecutive games played by a defenseman at 486.  Until 2007, this was also the NHL record.  Horton was widely regarded as the strongest man in the NHL and was famous for his bearhugs on players who attempted to fight him.

All in all Tim won 4 Stanley Cups and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.  He is considered one the greatest defenseman in NHL history and was so recognized in the now revered ‘The Hockey News’ book which ranked the 50 greatest players in NHL history. Tim was honored as the 43rd greatest player in NHL history in that publication.

Tim died on February 21, 1974 late in the morning after the Sabres had played the evening before.  The sports car he was driving (a gift from Sabres GM Punch Imlach) hit a concrete culvert and Tim was ejected from the vehicle.  It was estimated that he was traveling at over 100 MPH without a seatbelt.  Tim was only 44 years old at the time of his death.  This page has been signed by 3 others including Jim Morrison, Ron Stewart and George Armstrong.  This page will be accompanied by a copy of a JSA letter of authenticity.
