At the 1st Annual "Slap Shot" Golf tournament on October 22, 2005, "Slap Shot" writer Nancy Dowd acknowledged Goldie Goldthorpe & his tough guy legendary career as her inspiration for writing "Slap Shot" & her brother’s character of Ogie Ogilthorpe.
