This black Reebok Sickick II hockey stick was game used by superstar Sidney Crosby. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Crosby with the 1st overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Sid joined the Penguins immediately thereafter and took the NHL by storm with his adept scoring and playmaking abilities. In just his second season, on the strength of a dominant 120-point campaign, Crosby won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer as well as both league MVP’s by capturing the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award. The first trip to the Stanley Cup Finals came in year three as the 2007-08 Penguins made an unsuccessful bid against the Detroit Red Wings for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Revenge came the following year as Sid and his Penguins hoisted the Stanley Cup after defeating Detroit in the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.
The 2009-10 season was another great one for Crosby. In perhaps the greatest international game of the modern era, Sid led Team Canada over Team USA to capture the Gold Medal with an overtime game winner to cap off a storybook ending to the 2010 Winter Olympics. In addition, Crosby smashed his own personal high for goals in a season with 51, two of them coming on the seasons final day to tie Steven Stamkos for the Rocket Richard Trophy for most goals scored in the league. It marked the fourth 100-point season of his young career. Midway thru the 2010-11 campaign, it looked as though Sid was going to shatter all of his personal scoring records. Thru exactly half a seasons worth of games, he had scored 32 goals and registered 66 points before a concussion sent him to the sidelines, thus ending his year. The 2011-12 campaign saw Crosby return to limited action while lighting up the score sheets with 37 points in 22 games played.
The strike shortened 2012-13 season saw Sid the Kid return to health and tally 56 points during his 36 game schedule. The 2013-14 season marked Crosby’s first return to a full NHL schedule since the devastating concussions that he suffered a few years prior. Sid ran away with the NHL’s scoring title on the strength of 104 points, earning himself the Art Ross Trophy for the second time in his career. Along with the scoring title, Crosby also added his third Ted Lindsay Award as well as his second Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP.
The 2015-16 season saw Crosby and his Penguins capture their second Stanley Cup Championship. Crosby walked away with his first Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. The 2016-17 season saw Crosby capture yet another Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL’s leading goal scorer. Playoff time saw the defending Champion Penguins repeat the magic as they won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles and Crosby again walked away as the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as Playoff MVP. Crosby is a 7-time 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star who is now 14 years into a remarkable NHL career that is full of statistical marvels for the modern era. Crosby is putting together a legendary Hall of Fame resume.
