Serge Bernier WHA Quebec Nordiques Sher-Wood Game Used Stick
Lot #446
This Sher-Wood PMP hockey stick was game used by Serge Bernier while playing for the  Quebec Nordiques in the WHA. Bernier began his career with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1968-69 after being drafted 5th overall in 1967. He remained a Flyer for parts of 4 seasons before spending parts of 2 others with the Kings. Next up was the WHA, where Serge became a member of the Quebec Nordiques in 1973-74 and remained thru expansion into the NHL. He retired following the 1980-81 season.

Bernier’s spectacular WHA career places him among the all-time greats in league history. He is listed as the 13th greatest player in WHA history in a recognizable poll that was taken a number of years back. Serge is 6th on the all-time goals list with 230, 5th in all-time assists with 336 and was the WHA’s 4th highest scoring player with 566 career points despite having missed the inaugural season. No less impressive are his WHA playoff statistics; he ranks 6th all-time in goals with 28, 4th in all-time assists with 46 and was the 3rd highest scoring player in WHA playoff history with 72 points, trailing only Bobby Hull and Mark Howe and sitting 1 point ahead of Gordie Howe. The highlight of his career was being named playoff MVP in 1977 as he helped his Quebec Nordiques to their only Avco Cup championship in a grueling 7-game final series. Bernier was brilliant, leading all playoff scorers in goals, assists and points. Serge was a staple on the league’s scoring leader board appearing there year after year during his 6-year WHA career. Bernier appeared in the leagues annual All Star event in all 6 years that he played in the WHA, thus representing Team Canada in the 1974 8-Game Series between Team Canada WHA and the Soviet Union.

This Sher-Wood hockey stick has the player number and name “21 Bernier” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
