This black CCM Vector hockey stick was game used by Saku Koivu while playing for the Montreal Canadiens. The Montreal Canadiens selected this native of Finland in the 1st round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. After playing for TPS Turku for several years, Koivu joined the Canadiens in 1995-96. It’s hard to believe that Koivu has already spent 15 seasons patrolling center ice in the NHL. He spent the first 13 of those years with Montreal and most recently has joined the Anaheim Ducks. Koivu became Team Captain of the Canadiens in only his 5th season in the league and represented them in the 1998 NHL All Star game. He is the recipient of the 2002 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy as well as the 2007 King Clancy Memorial Trophy. On the international stage, Koivu has brought home a number of medals for Finland, representing his country in numerous World Championships, in 2 World Cups and in 4 Olympics! In the summer of 2001, this warrior was diagnosed with Cancer, which he inspirationally battled back from to lead the Canadiens to their first playoff appearance later that spring.
This black CCM hockey stick has the player number “11” written on the butt in black marker. The stick is fully taped on the butt. Some of the blade tape has been removed so Saku could autograph the blade. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
