Wilson was the longtime trainer of the Detroit Red Wings from 1950-1982. He was part of four Stanley Cup winning teams (1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955). Wilson also played three games in the NHL, one game each for the Red Wings, Maple Leafs and Bruins. In each case he was an emergency back-up, replacing Terry Sawchuk, Harry Lumley and Don Simmons when each was injured. Wilson died in November of 2002 at the age of 83.
