Rick Tocchet Philadelphia Phantoms Game Issued Presidents Day Autographed Jersey
Lot #779
This patriotic air-knit jersey by SP was personally signed by Rick Tocchet. This jersey was issued to Rick in his last season for a rehab assignment, but that never happened. Tocchet began his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1984-85, and as a rookie was treated to a Stanley Cup Finals run where the Flyers fell to the Edmonton Oilers. Two seasons later Rick would again join his Flyers teammates in another incredible Stanley Cup Finals run that pushed Wayne Gretzky’s Edmonton Oilers to a game 7. Tocchet’s ride in Philadelphia lasted into the 1991-92 season when he was dealt for Mark Recchi.

It proved a fruitful deal for Tocchet, as in his first season in Pittsburgh, Rick won his first and only Stanley Cup trophy as he teamed on a fearsome line with Mario Lemieux. Rick’s career lasted 18 seasons that included an 8-year run with the Flyers to begin it and another 3 year run with the same team to complete it. In the middle were notable stays in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Washington, Boston and Phoenix.

During his career, Tocchet was twice a 40-goal scorer, a career high of 48 coming with the Penguins in 1992-93. His career total of 440 goals and 952 points may surprise some, whereas his 2970 career PIMS should surprise nobody. Tocchet didn’t let up come playoff time either as evidenced by his 471 playoff PIMS in 145 playoff games. Tocchet was also a 4-time participant in the NHL All Star game.

This Phantoms Presidents Day game issued jersey has the player name “Tocchet” on the back. The player number “92” is on both sleeves and the back. On the right sleeve the patch that reads “God Bless America” depicts the twin towers. On the left sleeve the patch that reads “God Bless America” depicts the Statue of Liberty. This size 56 jersey has been personally signed by Rick on the back player number 9.
