Lot #372
GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to present The John Shipman Collection. This exciting collection of game worn jerseys, game used sticks, game worn equipment and memorabilia come directly from the personal collection of John Shipman. Mr. Shipman personally collected and preserved these items over the course of his tenure as the Montreal Canadiens assistant trainer from 1988-97. A signed letter from Mr. Shipman will accompany your purchase.

This Victoriaville APT 9050 hockey stick was game used by 500-goal scorer Pierre Turgeon while playing for the Montreal Canadiens. This 19-year veteran was the 1st overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL entry draft. He played for 5 seasons in Buffalo before being sent to the New York Islanders in a deal for Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine. Pierre spent 4 years on the Island before moving about to Montreal, where he would serve as Captain, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. In nearly 1300 games played, Pierre tabbed 515 goals and 1327 points. He won the 1992-93 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exhibited sportsmanship and high ability. Having achieved the 500-goal plateau and averaging better than a point per game during his career, will undoubtedly land Pierre in the Hall of Fame in the future.

This Victoriaville stick has the player name “P. Turgeon” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt. The blade tape has been removed so Pierre could autograph it. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition and comes directly from the personal collection of former Montreal Canadiens assistant trainer John Shipman and is accompanied by his signed LOA.
