Phil Esposito Boston Bruins/New York Rangers Northland Game Used Stick – Autographed
Lot #404
This Northland Custom Pro hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Phil Esposito while playing for the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, or both. Espo’s Hall of Fame career began in 1963-64 with the Chicago Blackhawks where he played for 4 years before joining the Boston Bruins in 1967-68, in the NHL’s original year of expansion. Phil then spent parts of 9 seasons with Boston, where he rewrote the record books on his way to 3 Stanley Cup Finals appearances and 2 Stanley Cup rings. Espo’s last 6 seasons were spent on the grand stage of Broadway where he starred for the New York Rangers until his retirement in 1981.

This great center iceman was one of the most prolific scorers in league history, retiring with 717 Goals, 873 Assists and 1590 Points. He held the single season Goals and Points records until Wayne Gretzky laid claim to them in the 1980’s. It was 1970-71 when the defending Stanley Cup Champion Bruins took to the ice and Phil put forth the greatest season the NHL had ever seen to date. He netted 76 Goals and an equal number of assists for a total of 152 Points, shattering the prior single season records. Espo followed his 76 up with single season goal totals of 66, 55, 68 and 61 over the next handful of seasons! Esposito was a 5-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader. He won 2 Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s MVP and also pocketed a couple of Lester B. Pearson Trophies as the NHL’s outstanding player for good measure.

This style Northland Pro hockey stick was definitely used by Phil while playing for the Boston Bruins. Since the player number “77” is stamped on it in red, it would lead us to believe he also may have used it as a New York Ranger. The player name “P. Esposito” is stamped on the side. The “Woody Dumart and Co.” stamp is on both sides as is the “Larson Industries Inc” stamp. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. Phil has autographed the blade. The stick is uncracked and in very nice condition.
