Petr Sykora Edmonton Oilers Blue Nike/Bauer Game Worn Helmet – Itech Faceshield - Mark Messier Night – Team Letter
Lot #392

This blue hockey helmet by Nike/Bauer was game worn by Petr Sykora on February 27, 2007 during Mark Messier Night while playing for the Edmonton Oilers. The Devils selected Sykora in the 1st round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Sykora began his NHL career with the Devils in 1995-96 and remained with the franchise for 7 years, long enough to capture his first Stanley Cup. Petr next spent two and a half years with Anaheim where he led his team to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals against his former mates. A half season on Broadway followed prior to joining the Oilers for the 2006-07 season. Next up it was a 2-year stay with Pittsburgh where Petr’s leadership helped guide the young Penguins to two straight Stanley Cup Finals, and saw his team walk away with the Cup in 2009. The 2009-10 season was spent in Minnesota before Sykora headed to Europe to continue his career. The 2011-12 season saw Petr make a return to the NHL, scoring over 20 goals and playing every game with the team he began his career with, the Devils. Winning wherever he went, Sykora netted better than 300 goals and also represented the Czech Republic in the 1996 and 2004 World Cup of Hockey as well as the 2002 Olympics.

This blue Nike/Bauer helmet has the player number “71”on the back. To the right is the NHL shield. The Oilers logo is on both sides. Attached to the front is the Itech faceshield. This helmet was also worn on March 3 and March 17. The helmet will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
