Peter Forsberg Philadelphia Flyers 16 x 20 Matted and Framed Original Artwork - Autographed
Lot #567
This beautiful original artwork shows Peter Forsberg wearing his Philadelphia Flyers uniform on draft day in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. It is a copy of the 1991-92 Upper Deck rookie card #64. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Forsberg with the 6th overall pick in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He soon became the necessary piece that pried Eric Lindros away from the Quebec Nordiques in one of the decade’s blockbuster trades. Forsberg played a lone season with the Nordiques prior to moving west to Colorado. He would spend the next 9 seasons wearing the Avalanche team colors during which time he won a couple of Stanley Cups. Forsberg went on to play for the Flyers and Predators before returning home to Colorado where he ended his career.

Forsberg was 3-times a 1st Team NHL All Star at Center and played in 5 NHL All Star games. He was the winner of the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year in 1994-95. Peter also captured the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP in 2002-03. Internationally, he represented his native Sweden in numerous World Championships, 2 World Cups of Hockey and 4 Olympics! Sadly, Forsberg battled serious injuries throughout much of his career that limited him to 708 games played. During that time he had rung up 249 goals and 636 assists for a total of 885 points. In 151 playoff games, Forsberg lit the lamp 64 times and added 107 helpers for a total of 171 points. He was among the most talented players of his generation and, were it not for his battles with injuries, his career totals would be significantly better than they already are.

This beautiful artwork was created by a local Philadelphia artist. The matting has been personally signed by Peter on the bottom.
