Description
Pelle Lindbergh Philadelphia Flyers Black Sher-Wood Game Used Stick The Terrence Murphy Collection Joe Murphy Letter
Lot #536

This fresh to the hobby example comes directly from the personal collection of longtime New York Islanders employee Terrence Murphy. Terry worked for the New York Islanders from 1983 through 1992, beginning as their stick boy until being promoted to Assistant Equipment Manager in 1988. A letter of provenance signed by Mr. Murphy’s son will accompany your purchase. These exciting items are being offered to the hobby for the first time via the Fall 2020 Auction, exclusively at GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET.

This black Sher-Wood PMPG hockey stick was game used by Pelle Lindbergh. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Lindbergh in the 2nd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Pelle made his NHL debut with the Flyers during the 1981-82 season after dominating the AHL’s awards ceremony the year prior. This ill-fated netminder played merely 3 full and 2 partial seasons in the NHL where he left no doubt about his vast talent. Lindbergh was a 2-time NHL All Star. He was voted 1st Team All-Rookie in 1982-83 and was a 1st Team NHL All Star in 1984-85. Pelle captured the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie in 1984-85, his final complete NHL season. Merely one month and just 8 games into the 1985-86 season, Lindbergh died in a fatal car crash in New Jersey as his Porsche struck a wall at high speed. Sadly, Pelle was just 26 years of age.

This black Sher-Wood stick has the player name “Lindberg” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition. A beautiful stick brought to you directly from the personal collection of Terrence Murphy, choice!
