This black Heaton Helite IV hockey stick was game used by goaltender Olaf Kolzig while playing for the Washington Capitals. The Capitals selected Kolzig in the 1st round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He would go on to become the most successful goalie in Capitals history, backstopping the club for 16 seasons and winning better than 300 games during his career. “Olie The Goalie” led the Caps to the Stanley Cup Finals for the only time in team history in 1998. He captured the Vezina Trophy as the leagues best goaltender in 2000 and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2006. This two-time NHL All Star was also named 1st Team NHL All Star in 2000. Internationally, Kolzig represented Germany in numerous World Championships, 2 World Cups of Hockey and 2 Olympics.
This black Heaton goalie stick has the player name “O Kolzig” stamped on the side. Next to that is the date stamp “1 OCT 1998”. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. Olaf has autographed the paddle. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
