This Northland Custom Pro hockey stick was game used by Norm Ferguson while playing for the New York Raiders. The stick was brought with him from his time with the California Golden Seals. After playing 2 seasons of minor league hockey, Ferguson joined the Oakland Seals for the 1968-69 season. After 4 seasons in Oakland, including their name change to the California Golden Seals, Norm made the jump to the WHA and played for the Raiders/ Golden Blades/Knights/Mariners franchise for 5 seasons before a final WHA season with the Edmonton Oilers.
Norm’s first season in the NHL was a stellar one, scoring 34 Goals in only 76 Games Played, a new rookie Goal Scoring record. He finished 2nd in the voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy behind Danny Grant. The New York Islanders selected Ferguson from the Seals in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft but he chose to sign a WHA contract with the New York Raiders. He was Captain of the San Diego Mariners in 1974-75.
