Description
Mike Gartner Washington Capitals Koho Game Used Stick Team Signed Rooke
Lot #558

This Koho 221 Custom Pro hockey stick was game used by 700-Goal scorer Mike Gartner while playing for the Washington Capitals during his rookie season. Gartner, who was the 4th overall selection in the 1979 NHL Entry draft, spent the first 10 years of his career with the Washington Capitals and is considered the greatest Capital to ever wear the team colors. During his 19-year NHL career Mike racked up incredible numbers while representing the Caps, North Stars, Rangers, Leafs and Coyotes. His Hall of Fame numbers are simply staggering with in excess of 700 career goals and 1300 career points to his credit. He is one of a handful of players ever to eclipse 700 career goals, standing among the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito, Brett Hull and Jaromir Jagr. Mike was consistently good over a very long period of time, which is rather uncommon in the modern era of this grueling sport. He amassed 15 different 30-goal seasons with 8 of them being 40 or better including one 50 goal campaign. He proudly represented his team in 7 different NHL All Star contests. Mike also represented Team Canada in both of the classic Canada Cup series in 1984 and 1987. He was a true credit to the sport and is a most deserving member of Hockey’s Hall of Fame.

This Koho stick has the player name “Gartner” stamped on the side. The player number “11” is written in black marker just above the name. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. The stick is autographed by 16 members of the 1979-80 team including Robert Picard, Gord Lane, Wayne Stephenson, Bengt Gustafsson, Paul Mackinnon, Mike Gartner and Ryan Walter. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
