Description
Mike Bossy New York Islanders White Titan Game Used Stick – Used in 1981-82 – Stanley Cup Season
Lot #427

This white Titan TPM hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Mike Bossy during the 1981-82 Stanley Cup winning season. The New York Islanders selected Bossy in the 1st round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. Bossy burst onto the scene in 1977-78 and as a rookie scored a record setting 53 goals and won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. Bossy spent his entire 10-year injury shortened career with the Islanders where he helped his team to Dynasty status by capturing four consecutive Stanley Cups in the early 1980’s.

Bossy’s individual accomplishments are plentiful and simply too lengthy to list in full. Some of the highlights include an NHL record nine consecutive 50-Goal seasons, having done so in all but his final season where he was limited to 63 games after which he retired in his prime due to chronic back problems. In 1981, Mike became the 2nd player in NHL history to reach 50-Goals in 50-Games, doing so in dramatic fashion and tying a mark set by Maurice Rocket Richard four decades earlier. Mike has the highest goals per game average of the modern era at .762, and he led the NHL in goals twice. He is tied with Wayne Gretzky as the only players to have scored 60-Goals in 5 different seasons. Mike is tied with Hall of Famer Joe Malone as the only players to ever score hat tricks in 3 consecutive games. Bossy won the 1982 Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP and is a 3-time recipient of the Lady Byng Trophy. In a career limited to 752 games, Bossy scored 573 goals and 1126 points. His playoff acumen is no less impressive having scored 85 goals and 160 points in 129 games played. Mike was 8-times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star at Right Wing and played in 7 NHL All Star games. On the international scene, Bossy represented Team NHL in the 1979 Challenge Cup Series against the Soviet Union, and played in the 1981 and 1984 Canada Cups. Bossy was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame upon eligibility in 1991 and had his player number 22 retired by the Islanders in 1992.

This white Titan stick has the player name “M. Bossy” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. It is date stamped “OCT 16 1981”. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
