Mid 1980’s Todd Gill Toronto Maple Leafs Pre-Season Game Worn Jersey – The Terrence Murphy Collection – Joe Murphy Letter
Lot #90

This fresh to the hobby example comes directly from the personal collection of longtime New York Islanders employee Terrence Murphy. Terry worked for the New York Islanders from 1983 through 1992, beginning as their stick boy until being promoted to Assistant Equipment Manager in 1988. A letter of provenance signed by Mr. Murphy’s son will accompany your purchase. These exciting items are being offered to the hobby for the first time via the Fall 2020 Auction, exclusively at GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET.

This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Todd Gill during the pre-season in the mid 1980’s. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Gill in the 2nd round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Brockville, ONT native spent the first 12 years of a 19-year NHL career with the Maple Leafs. Todd would later go on to represent the Sharks, Blues, Red Wings, Coyotes, Avalanche and the Blackhawks before retiring after 1007 NHL games played during which time this feisty defenseman racked up 1214 PIMS. Gill was part of the Leafs defense during their back-to-back runs to the Conference Finals in 1993 and 1994 and will forever be associated with those exciting Leafs squads.

The fight strap on this gamer has been customized for Gill. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling while fight abuse is also evident with wear and tear to the custom fight strap as well as a stretched and stitch popped front collar. A nice fresh to the hobby example worn by Gill towards the outset of his career as he battled for a roster spot on the Leafs and which comes directly from the personal collection of Terrence Murphy.
