Description
Mid 1980’s Ryan Walter Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #47
This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ryan Walter circa the mid 1980’s while skating for the Montreal Canadiens. The Washington Capitals selected Walter with the 2nd overall pick in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. Ryan began his NHL career in 1978-79 and spent 4 seasons with the Caps, becoming their Team Captain in only his 2nd year in the league. A few years later, Walter would become the key component in the blockbuster trade that brought Rod Langway and Doug Jarvis to Washington from the Montreal Canadiens. Walter would serve the Canadiens for the next 9 seasons as they made 2 Stanley Cup Finals appearances during that span and walked away with the 1986 Stanley Cup. He completed his career with a final couple of seasons in Vancouver. Walter partook in 1003 regular season games, was an NHL All Star and scored a career high 38 goals during the 1981-82 season with Washington.

The game wear on this sweater is tremendous and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of recognizable board paint transfer from the old Montreal Forum, washed out bloodstains, fine inner pilling and by our count 70 team-sewn repairs! A hammered example, worn by this NHL All Star that saw extensive ice time circa the mid 1980’s Stanley Cup era in Montreal.
