Description
Mid 1980's Ryan Walter Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #62

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ryan Walter circa the mid 1980’s. Walter was the 2nd overall draft choice in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. He began his career with the Washington Capitals in 1978-79 and spent 4 seasons with the club. Ryan was the key component in the blockbuster trade that brought Rod Langway and Doug Jarvis to Washington from Montreal. Walter would serve the Canadiens for the next 9 seasons, as they made 2 Stanley Cup Finals appearances during that span, and walked away with the 1986 Stanley Cup. He completed his career with a final couple of seasons in Vancouver, as this BC boy went home. Most recently, Walter has served as Assistant Coach for the Vancouver Canucks, spending the past couple of seasons behind the bench. Walter partook in 1003 regular season games, scored a career high 38 goals in 1981-82 and was an NHL All Star.

Excellent game wear exists on this sweater. There are stick marks, board burns, plenty of that recognizable Montreal Forum board paint transfer, washed out bloodstains, fine inner pilling and by our count an incredible 70 team-sewn repairs. This Stanley Cup era sweater represents hockey as it was a quarter century ago. Fantastic vintage offering.
