Description
Mid 1980’s Ken Daneyko New Jersey Devils Game Worn Jersey
Lot #55
This road red mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was likely worn by Ken Daneyko circa the 1984-85 and/or 1986-87 seasons. The New Jersey Devils selected Daneyko in the 1st round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Kenny made his NHL debut with New Jersey in 1983-84 and spent his entire 20-year career in a Devils uniform. Over the course of 1283 games played, Daneyko amassed 2516 PIMS and won 3 Stanley Cups. He was the recipient of the 1999-00 Bill Masterton Trophy for the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. In the ultimate form of respect and honor, Ken’s player number 3 was raised to the rafters in New Jersey in 2006 never to be worn again.

The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. A custom skate lace fight strap is affixed just beneath the back player number in the place of the original fight strap, which has been removed. Removed from the left breast is the Captain’s “C”, which we believe could have been added after the fact as Daneyko only first wore the alternate Captain’s “A” in 1986-87. On the back player number is a black sharpie signature in Daneyko’s own hand. The Devils wore this style during the 1984-85 season as well as the first set of the 1986-87 season. An interesting vintage sweater that poses some questions that have yet to be answered.
