Mid 1970's Gary Dornhoefer Flyers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #17

This road orange knit gamer was worn by Gary Dornhoefer during the mid 1970’s. Gary enjoyed a 14-year NHL career that began with 3 seasons in Boston before an 11 year stretch with the Philadelphia Flyers. Dorny is among the most popular players to ever don the Flyers uniform.

This original Flyer played in Philadelphia from their expansion season of 1967-68 thru the
1977-78 campaign. He partook in the most successful era in team history where, under the guidance of head coach Fred Shero, the “Broad Street Bullies” went to 3-straight Stanley Cup Finals from 1974-76, winning the first two of them. In 787 games played, Gary tabbed 542 points and 1291 PIMS. Gary’s exceptional play on the wing was acknowledged by 2 NHL All Star game berths, coming in 1973 and 1977.

This striking orange knit was worn during the most prosperous era in Philadelphia Flyers team history. The style of this sweater dates it directly to the heart of the Flyers Stanley Cup years. The game use consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstaining and fine inner pilling. The original nameplate on the back is a rarity in collecting circles. Not many of these Stanley Cup era knits exist, with even fewer having an original nameplate in tow. This is quite a treat for any “Broad Street Bullies” collector.
