Description
Marty Howe Hartford Whalers Sher-Wood Game Issued Stick
Lot #660
This Sher-Wood PMP 5030 hockey stick was issued for use by Marty Howe while playing for the Hartford Whalers. The Montreal Canadiens selected Howe in the 3rd round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. This native of Detroit, MI chose to join his father Gordie and brother Mark in the WHA, where the trio debuted in 1973-74 with the Houston Aeros. Following four seasons in Houston, Marty and his esteemed family members joined the New England Whalers in 1977-78 where they remained through the remaining two WHA seasons and the eventual transfer to become the NHL’s Hartford Whalers. Marty played a total of 449 games in the WHA over the course of 6 seasons. Though not as adept offensively as his father and brother, Marty did manage four consecutive double-digit goal seasons including a career best of 17 in 1976-77 from his position on the blueline. Other than a season with the Boston Bruins, Howe’s 6-year NHL career was spent entirely with the Whalers in Hartford.

This Sher-Wood stick has the player name and number “Howe 18” stamped on the side. The stick is un-taped and shows no use. It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
