Mark Howe Flyers Game Worn Pants
Lot #281

These long black Cooper hockey pants were worn by Mark Howe while playing for the Philadelphia Flyers.  The Flyers wore these pants for two seasons 1981-82 and 1982-83.

Mark Howe’s illustrious career spanned 22 seasons. The first 6 of those were spent in the WHA as a teammate of his father Gordie and brother Marty. In 426 WHA games Mark tallied a lofty 504 points, leaving his mark as one of the WHA’s all time best. His NHL career was no less impressive. In 929 games this defenseman banked 742 points leaving his career points total in excess of 1200. He was among the highest scoring defenseman of his era and is deserving of Hall of Fame attention. Mark was 3 times a 1st team NHL All Star and was 2 times a 1st or 2nd team WHA All Star. He played in 4 NHL All Star games and was the recipient of the Lou Kaplan Trophy in 1974 as WHA’s rookie of the year. Howe also nabbed the 1986 NHL +/- award. His leadership and stellar blueline play helped the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985 and 1987, where they fell short both times to the Edmonton Oilers dynasty.

These long pants were eventually outlawed by the NHL after the 1982-83 season, never to be worn again.  They have the Flyers logo on the bottom of the left pant leg.  Howe's player number "2" is written inside the hem in black marker.
