This black CCM Ribcore 40K hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Marian Hossa while playing for the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2014-15 Stanley Cup winning season. The Ottawa Senators selected Hossa in the 1st round of the 1997 NHL entry draft. Hossa began his career in Ottawa with a 7-game stint in 1997-98 and remained there for 7 years. Three seasons followed in Atlanta and then a deadline deal sent him to Pittsburgh where he played briefly in 2007-08, making a run to the Stanley Cup Finals. After the 2007-08 season, Hossa signed a one-year free agent contract with the Detroit Red Wings. Marian had a good season with the Wings, leading the team in goals with 40 and averaging almost a point per game. Interestingly, Marian wound up in the finals again, facing off against his former team from the year before, the Penguins. After a hard fought 7-game series, Marian again came out on the losing side as the Red Wings were defeated 2-1 in the seventh game.
The 2008-09 off-season saw Marian sign a long-term contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. On May 23, 2010, the Blackhawks beat the San Jose Sharks to earn a trip to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. Marian became the first player in NHL history to play in three consecutive finals with 3 different teams. On June 9, 2010, Marian celebrated with his teammates as he finally won his first Stanley Cup, as the Blackhawks defeated the Flyers to win their first championship in 49 years. Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews handed the Cup to Hossa first during the team pass-around. The 2012-13 season saw Marian win his 2nd Stanley Cup as the Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins 4-2 in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Hossa won his 3rd Stanley Cup as the Hawks took their 3rd in a 5-season span in 2015. He is now a member of the vaunted 500-Goal club after scoring his first goal of the 2016-17 season. Marian finished his career with 525 Goals and over 1100 career points, played in 5 NHL All Star games and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame with the class of 2020.
This black CCM stick has the player nickname and number “Hoss 81” on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt while a small amount of blade tape has been removed by the team so Marian could autograph it. The stick will be accompanied by a Blackhawks team letter.
