Yzerman, who was selected 4th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, is considered one of the best team captains in NHL history. His ability and grit led the Red Wings to 3 Stanley Cup championships

Yzerman scored 692 career goals, 1063 career assists and 1755 career points in 22 seasons. These totals place him in the top 10 of all 3 categories. In addition to his 3 Stanley Cups, Steve has also won a Lester B. Pearson trophy as the NHL’s outstanding player, a Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP, a Frank J. Selke trophy as the leagues best defensive forward, a Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy and a Lester B. Patrick Trophy. Yzerman netted 50 goals five different times during his career. In fact he had a span of six consecutive seasons beginning in 1987-88, where he scored 50, 65, 62, 51, 45 and 58 goals; quite impressive! “Stevie Y” played in 8 NHL All Star games and represented Team Canada in the 1984 Canada Cup, the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and the 1998 and 2002 Olympics.
