Description
Late 1960's Wayne Connelly Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #63
This road white dureen gamer by Olympic Sporting Goods was worn by Wayne Connelly circa the late 1960’s. Connelly began his NHL career in 1960-61 with the Montreal Canadiens. He spent 10 seasons in the NHL and represented the Canadiens, Bruins, North Stars, Red Wings, Blues and Canucks. Wayne’s best NHL season came with the expansion North Stars in 1967-68 as he struck for 35 goals. When the WHA was formed, Connelly joined the Minnesota Fighting Saints and became one of the WHA’s first stars as he netted 120 goals in 3 seasons with the Fighting Saints. Wayne also represented the Crusaders, Oilers and Cowboys before retiring.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturer’s and size tagging. The game wear on this size 48 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes, inner pilling and some tremendous team-sewn repair work. Some red bleeding exists on the lower reverse while also worthy of mention is a crest change from the original winged wheel to an outline of a circular crest of unknown origin and back to a lesser quality version of Detroit’s winged wheel.
