Keith Magnuson Chicago Blackhawks 8x10 B&W Autographed Wire Photo Deceased
Lot #557

Keith Magnuson played 11 seasons in the NHL all with the Chicago Black Hawks. Magnuson was a staple on the blueline for the Hawks, helping lead them to two Stanley Cup finals. You would never know that Maguson scored 14 goals in his entire NHL career considering how revered he was in Chicago. He was Captain of the Hawks from 1976-1980 and played in 2 NHL All Star games. His player number "3", along with Pierre Pilote was retired by the Hawks in 2008.

On December 15, 2003, at the age of 54, Magnuson was killed when the car he was in swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the car, former NHL defenseman Rob Ramage, was convicted on five counts of impaired driving causing death. On January 17, 2008, Ramage was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

This wire photo, dated April 17, 1973, shows Keith both in his Blackhawks uniform and recovering from injury. The headline reads, “Keith Magnuson of Chicago Black Hawks is shown in his team photo (left) and in a Chicago hospital, Tuesday, after having his fractured jaw wired. The Hawks defenseman suffered broken jaw and loss of several teeth when he took a shot to the chin by Brad Park of the New York Rangers during NHL playoff game at Chicago last Sunday”

Our consignor went to a hockey game every night and had all autographs signed personally. The photo and signature is beautiful.
