Jean Ratelle Mid 1960's New York Rangers 20th Goal Game Used Puck - Autographed - Jean Ratelle Letter
Lot #595

Jean Ratelle scored his 20th Goal with this beautiful New York Rangers orinigal six puck used at Madison Square Garden in New York. Ratelle began his NHL career with the New York Rangers in 1960-61 and remained a staple with the squad all the way into the 1975-76 season when he was traded to Boston in exchange for Phil Esposito. Jean completed his career in Boston where he spent parts of 6 seasons. All told this Center played in 1281 games over the course of 21 NHL seasons. He ended his career with 491 goals, 776 assists and 1267 points, which was good for 6th best all-time upon his retirement and he was rightfully inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1985. The Rangers honored Jean by retiring his number 19, where it will forever hang in the rafters at MSG. Ratelle was the center for one of hockey’s all-time great lines, the GAG or Goal a Game line. He centered for Vic Hadfield and fellow Hall of Famer Rod Gilbert. The 1971-72 season was one for the record books for Ratelle. He was on pace to win the scoring title in 1971-72 before he suffered a broken ankle in March that limited him to 63 games. Nevertheless, he tallied 46 goals and added 63 helpers for an astounding 109 points, a New York Rangers scoring record that stood for 34 years. His efforts that season earned him the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the NHL’s Outstanding Player, one of his two Lady Byng Memorial Trophies for the combination of high ability and gentlemanly play along with a 2nd Team NHL All Star selection. This perennial All Star was also a Bill Masterton Trophy winner in 1970-71.

This game used New York Rangers 20th career NHL Goal puck was part of Jean Rattle’s personal collection and a letter from Mr. Ratelle will accompany your purchase.
