This white catcher by Reebok was game worn by J.S. Giguere while playing for the Colorado Avalanche. The Hartford Whalers selected Giguere with the 13th overall pick in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. After briefly suiting up for the Whalers, Giguere spent a couple of seasons in Calgary before joining Anaheim for a spectacular 9-year stint. In 2002-03, Giguere led the Mighty Ducks to the Stanley Cup Finals where they fell at the hands of the New Jersey Devils in a hard fought 7-game series. So spectacular were his efforts that post season, that Giguere was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, posting 15 victories and a 1.62 GAA. “Giggy” eventually captured hockey’s most important trophy as he led the Ducks to Stanley Cup glory in 2007. Giguere is an NHL All Star who has also represented team Canada in the World Championships. Since leaving the Ducks, Giguere represented the Maple Leafs for a couple of years and then spent a final 3 seasons with the Colorado Avalanche before retiring.
This white Reebok catcher has the player name “Giguere” stitched on the back. Shown above are a few photo matches of J.S. wearing this exact catcher while playing for the Avalanche. The catcher shows great game use.
