Hector “Toe” Blake Matted & Framed Autographed Presentation Piece - Deceased - PSA/DNA
Lot #415
Toe played for the Montreal Canadiens for 12 1/2 seasons from 1935-36 into the 1947-48 season before a double fracture of his ankle ending his playing career in early 1948. While playing for the Habs, Blake was part of the Punch Line with Elmer Lach and Maurice Richard. For Toe's last 8 seasons he was the captain of the Canadiens and won the Stanley Cup in 1944 and 1946. In the 1938-39 season, Toe won the Hart trophy as the NHL most valuable player as well as the Art Ross trophy for leading the league in scoring.

In 1955 Toe was named the coach of the Canadiens and there he stayed for the next 13 years. During this stretch the Canadiens won 8 Stanley Cups, the most of any Canadiens coach ever. He is still the winningest coach in Canadiens history. In 1966, Toe was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Toe died of pneumonia, as a complication of Alzheimer's disease, on May 17, 1995 at the age of 82.

This beautiful 28 x 22 matted and framed presentation piece features Toe behind the Canadiens bench. On the right is a beautiful 3 x 5 index cut which has been authenticated by PSA/DNA.
