Glenn Resch Philadelphia Flyers Cooper Game Worn Cage Mask
Lot #701

This black cage mask by Cooper was game worn by Glenn “Chico” Resch while playing for the Philadelphia Flyers. Chico made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders in their 2nd season of operation, 1973-74. He would spend 8 seasons on Long Island and was a key component in helping to build the expansion franchise into Stanley Cup contenders. After winning the Stanley Cup in 1979-80, the Islanders dealt Resch to the Colorado Rockies mid way through the 1980-81 season. Chico spent parts of 6 years with the Rockies and Devils franchise. In the New Jersey Devils first year of operation, Chico appeared in 65 games, a career high. The Devils dealt Resch to the Philadelphia Flyers during the latter part of the 1985-86 season. The following season Chico backed up rookie Ron Hextall as the Flyers made a run to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. In addition to his Stanley Cup title, Chico was two times a 2nd Team NHL All Star, played in 3 NHL All Star games and was the recipient of the 1982 Bill Masterton Trophy.

This black cage mask by Cooper was used by Chico towards the end of his All Star career.  It has the player number “33” on the back. The mask shows solid use both inside and out with all the straps and interior padding.
