Gilles Villemure Cooper Game Worn Blocker
Lot #714
This Cooper GM12 hockey blocker was game worn by Gilles Villemure.  Villemure started his career in the WHL and AHL playing for the Vancouver Canucks, Baltimore Clippers and Buffalo Bisons. Although he played for the Rangers in 1963-64, 1967-68 and 1968-69, he didn’t join the Rangers for good until 1970-71. In 1968-69 and 1969-70 he won the Les Cunningham award as the AHL’s most valuable player. In both those seasons he also won the Hap Holmes Memorial award  for leading the league in G.A.A. Starting in 1970-71, Villemure played 5 seasons with the Rangers, winning a Vezina trophy (with Ed Giacomin) and playing in 3 NHL All Star games. He then went to Chicago and played with the Black Hawks for 2 seasons to complete his career.

This Cooper GM12 hockey blocker has the player number “30” inside in marker. There is a very faint autograph in Gilles hand on the front. The blocker shows great game use.
