These 1970's Cooper goalie pads were game worn by Bruins goalie Gilles Gilbert. After starting his career with the North Stars where he spent parts of 4 seasons, Gilbert became a mainstay in the Bruins nets for 7 straight seasons. Alongside Cheesy during the Don Cherry era, Gilbert found a place in Bostonian’s hearts. Gilbert's finest individual season was 1973-74 as he led Boston to the Stanley Cup Finals and earned an NHL All Star berth along the way. In 54 games of play, Gilles won 34 games, tied 8 and lost only 12. He started all 16 of Boston’s playoff games and won 10 of them, falling to the Flyers in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals in a 1-0 thriller. He spent his final 3 years with the Red Wings in Detroit, after being traded for Rogie Vachon. A beautiful item from the Big Bad Bruins.
