This mini version of the mask worn by Felix Potvin in 1995 is personally signed by Felix and limited to only 750. The mask being auctioned is #71 of 750. Potvin was the Leaf’s 2nd round selection in the 1990 NHL entry draft. Following 3 seasons with Chicoutimi, that saw him lead the league in shutouts, Felix the Cat partook in 34 games with St. John’s in 1991-92 before getting the call to Toronto. His stellar play with St. John’s won him the AHL’s Baz Bastein and Red Garrett Memorial Awards in 1991-92.
The Cat spent his first 8 seasons with the Leafs where he brought hope and excitement to the frustrated franchise. His 4-game stint as a rookie in 1991-92 was so impressive that management decided to dispose of Hall of Famer Grant Fuhr, and hand the reigns over to Potvin. Incredible runs to the Conference Finals in Potvin’s first 2 full seasons in goal for the Maple Leafs were the highlights of his career. He was a member of the NHL’s All Rookie Team in 1993 and twice played in the NHL All Star game. When his brief career in Toronto was complete, Felix the Cat had made his way onto the Leaf’s record books and trailed only the likes of Bower and Broda in key categories.
The mask is 10" tall and the inside is furnished with padding to make this replica as authentic looking as possible. The inside also has Felix's autograph as well as the seal from the orginal company that produced them.
