This beautiful painted goalie mask by Bauer was practice worn by Evgeni Nabokov while playing for the San Jose Sharks in the early 2000’s. The San Jose Sharks selected Nabokov in the 9th round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. This native of Kazakhstan made his NHL debut with San Jose in 1999-00 and captured the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year in 2000-01. Nabokov spent the first 10 years of his 14-year NHL career with the Sharks. He went on to spend 3 seasons with the Islanders before playing one final year with Tampa Bay. Evgeni’s best season came in 2007-08 when he appeared in a league leading 77 games. He led the NHL in Wins with 46 while posting 6 shutouts and a 2.14 GAA. For his efforts, Nabokov was named 1st Team NHL All Star and was runner up for the Vezina Trophy. Inside are the signatures of Don Malerba and Myers Mask Design. On the backplate is the player nickname “Nabby”. Below that is a shark fin surrounded by a ribbon on the left and the NHL shield on the right.
