This black knit gamer by CCM was worn by Trever Fraser during his time with the Tacoma Rockets circa the 1991-94 WHL seasons. This Alberta native played 3 seasons of junior hockey with Tacoma before playing 4 seasons with Acadia University. Fraser spent his last 4 seasons on the ice playing in the ECHL and WCHL. Fraser played the role of enforcer during his playing days and racked up some pretty impressive PIMS totals during his junior days with Tacoma. In 202 games, this tough guy amassed 731 PIMS including a single season best of 353 PIMS in 1991-92. Fraser’s 731 PIMS are an all-time franchise mark.
The game wear on this size 50 sweater is tremendous and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling, fight abuse, washed out bloodstains, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and some fantastic team-sewn repair work found across the body and sleeves. On the left breast is a Velcro swatch for the application of a letter of honor. The original Tacoma Rockets existed during the post war years dating 1946-53. The revival of the WHL’s Tacoma Rockets lasted a mere 4 seasons spanning 1991-92 thru 1994-95. In 1992-93, Tacoma set a WHL record with 24 straight victories on home ice. Game worn jerseys from this Major Junior team have been pretty tough to put one’s hands on, with this being the first we’ve seen appear at Major Auction. Fraser, the franchise’s all-time PIMS leader, wore this battered example during the team’s brief existence a quarter century ago.
