Early 1990’s Tony Amonte New York Rangers Pre-Season Game Worn Jersey - Rookie Era
Lot #94
This road blue mesh gamer by CCM and Cosby was worn by Tony Amonte circa the early 1990’s during the pre-season, and is from his rookie era. The New York Rangers selected Amonte in the 4th round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Boston University, this Hingham, MA native began his NHL career during the 1990-91 playoffs. During his rookie year of 1991-92, Tony netted 35 goals as the Rangers captured the President’s trophy as the leagues best team. His excellent play helped earn him a spot among the league’s all-rookie team for 1991-92. Amonte’s sophomore season saw him light the lamp 33 times and add 43 assists for a 76-point season, proving that his rookie season was no fluke.

Best known as a Blackhawk, Tony had his greatest success wearing the Chief Indian Head crest. He would spend 8+ seasons wearing the Chicago colors and produced all three of his 40+ goal seasons during that span. Amonte finished up his career with stints in Phoenix, Philadelphia and Calgary. When Tony’s 15-year career came to a close, he stood with 416 goals and exactly 900 points. Tony played in 5 consecutive NHL All Star games spanning 1997-2001. He was a key member of Team USA in the Olympics in 1998 and 2002 where he captured a silver medal. Tony was also instrumental in helping Team USA capture the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

The game wear on this size XXL rookie era pre-season sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, heavy pilling and a massive Frankenstein style 7” long team-sewn repair. The red layer of the back player number has peeled away and been lost to history. A nice rookie era pre-season sweater of this 400-Goal scoring 5-time NHL All Star.
