Early 1990ís Larry Robinson Greatest Hockey Legends Game Worn Jersey
Lot #82

This blue knit gamer by CCM was worn by Larry Robinson in the early 1990’s during the old-timers Legends series. The Montreal Canadiens selected Robinson in the 1st round of the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. Robinson enjoyed a 20-year NHL career and spent the first 17 of those seasons with Montreal, where he won an incredible 7 Stanley Cups. Robinson’s final 3 seasons were spent playing alongside Wayne Gretzky in Los Angeles. Larry was the 1978 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as playoff MVP and also captured 2 Norris Trophies as the NHL’s best defenseman. Robinson was 6-times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star on defense and was a regular participant in the NHL All Star Game throughout his 2-decade long career, playing in a total of 10 annual classics.

Larry also starred when the international spotlight was on, playing for Team Canada in 4 different Canada Cups, while also taking part in those memorable New Year’s Eve Super Series contests against the Soviets during the Cold War era. He is considered one of the game’s all-time greats and was so recognized in the now revered ‘The Hockey News” book that ranked the 50 greatest players in NHL history. Larry was honored as the 24th greatest player in NHL history in that publication. Following his playing days, Robinson added to his trophy case as he won the Stanley Cup as the New Jersey Devils head coach in 2000. In 1384 games played, Larry scored 208 goals and added 750 assists for a total of 958 points. His remarkable career also saw Larry partake in 227 playoff games where he added another 144 points.

The sleeves on this gamer have been custom shortened for Robinson. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust and fine inner pilling. Velcro attaches the Hall of Famer’s name to the upper verso. The screened on player number and stars have experienced some slight loss while the Greatest Hockey Legends crest is sewn boldly to the front. French advertising exists on both sleeves.
