Description
Early 1980's Willy Lindstrom Jets Game Worn Jersey
Lot #68

This road blue heavy mesh gamer by Sandow was worn by Willy Lindstrom circa the early 1980’s. Lindstrom migrated to the WHA along with fellow Swedes Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson in the mid 1970’s. They all skated on behalf of the Winnipeg Jets and helped keep the franchise as one of the WHA’s finest throughout their existence as a league. Following 4 seasons in the WHA, Willy moved with the Jets to the NHL. He would spend 4 more seasons with Winnipeg before a deadline deal sent him to Edmonton in the spring of 1983. Two more full seasons with the Oilers followed which included 3 Stanley Cup Finals and two Stanley Cup celebrations for Willy. He would next play for the Penguins for 2 seasons before retiring and moving back to Europe to continue his career.

Lindstrom’s finest season came in 1976-77 when he tabbed 44 goals and 80 points. He would also leave a mark in the NHL, scoring a career best NHL total of 30 goals in 1981-82. This 2-time Cup winner had the privilege to play alongside Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Hull, not bad.

The game wear on this sweater is solid consisting of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and fine inner pilling. A skate lace is sewn to the standard loop style fight strap on the inside. A fine looking vintage offering from the early years of this defunct franchise.
