Description
Dominik Hasek Detroit Red Wings CCM Game Worn Skates
Lot #453
These black hockey skates by CCM were game worn by Dominik Hasek while playing for the Detroit Red Wings. The Chicago Black Hawks saw fit to draft Hasek in the 10th round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. In 1991, after spending 9 years playing professionally in the Czech Republic, Dom made his first NHL appearance with Chicago. After 2 partial seasons in the Windy City, and with Eddie Belfour also on the roster, the Blackhawks dealt Hasek to Buffalo. Hasek spent 9 years tending goal for the Sabres before joining the Red Wings in 2001-02. Hasek spent 4 of his final 5 NHL seasons in the Motor City, with a lone season playing for the Ottawa Senators sandwiched in between.

Dominik announced his 2nd and last retirement from the NHL following the 2007-08 season, only days after winning his 2nd Stanley Cup. He is the holder of 6 Vezina Trophies as the league’s most valuable goaltender as well as 3 Jenning’s Trophies for fewest goals allowed.

Despite a 9-year pro career in the Czech Republic, forcing a very late beginning to his NHL career, Dominik amassed staggering career awards and statistics. He was a 6-time 1st team NHL All Star and played in 6 NHL All Star games. In addition to the 6 Vezina’s and the 3 Jennings trophies he is also the holder of 2 Lester B. Pearson awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and 2 Hart Memorial Trophies as league MVP. The Pearson Award and Hart Trophy are rarely given to a goaltender, making his total of two of each all the more remarkable.

Hasek also sports an impressive international resume which includes tending goal in 4 different Olympic Games (88, 98, 02, 06) He won a most surprising Gold Medal in 1998 as he carried his Czech team on his back, defeating all comers. He also partook in 3 Canada Cups, the first dating all the way back to 1984!

In 2001-02, his last season before his first announced retirement; Hasek won the Trophy that had eluded him to that point, the Stanley Cup as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. Dominik decided to make a comeback in 2003-04 and, in his last NHL season, captured Stanley Cup number two at the age of 43! His 81 career shutouts tie him for 6th on the all-time list, just one behind Jacques Plante. His 387 career Wins place him 10th all time. Oh what could have been had Dom not spent 9 seasons playing in the Czech Republic. Dom will be remembered as one of the most dominating players we’ll have seen play in our lifetimes.

These black CCM tacks skates have the player name “Hasek” on the bottom of each. These skates were originally acquired directly from the Red Wings and their sticker is still attached.
