Dominik Hasek Buffalo Sabres Red, White & Gray Louisville Game Issued Pads Autographed
Lot #297
These red, white & grey Louisville TPS pads were game issued to Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek by the Buffalo Sabres circa the 1999-2000 season. The Chicago Blackhawks wisely saw fit to draft Hasek in the 10th round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. In 1991, after spending 9 years playing professionally in the Czech Republic, Dom made his first NHL appearance with Chicago. After 2 partial seasons in the Windy City, and with Eddie Belfour also on the roster, the Blackhawks dealt Hasek to Buffalo. Hasek spent 9 years tending goal for the Sabres before joining the Red Wings in 2001-02. Hasek spent 4 of his final 5 NHL seasons in the Motor City, with a lone season playing for the Ottawa Senators sandwiched in between.

Dominik announced his 2nd and last retirement from the NHL following the 2007-08 season, only days after winning his 2nd Stanley Cup. He is the holder of 6 Vezina Trophies as the league’s most valuable goaltender as well as 3 Jenning’s Trophies for fewest goals allowed.

Despite a 9-year pro career in the Czech Republic, forcing a very late beginning to his NHL career, Dominik amassed staggering career awards and statistics. Dominik was a 6-time 1st team NHL All Star and played in 6 NHL All Star games. In addition to the 6 Vezina’s and the 3 Jennings trophies, he is also the holder of 2 Lester B. Pearson awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and 2 Hart Memorial Trophies as league MVP. The Pearson Award and Hart Trophy are rarely given to a goaltender, making his total of two of each even more remarkable.

Hasek also sports an impressive international resume, which includes tending goal in 4 different Olympic Games (‘88, ‘98, ‘02, ‘06). He won a most surprising Gold Medal in 1998 as he carried the Czech team on his back, defeating all comers. He also partook in 3 Canada Cups, the first dating all the way back to 1984!

In 2001-02, his last season before his first announced retirement; Hasek won the Trophy that had eluded him to that point, the Stanley Cup in his first season as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. Dominik decided to make a comeback in 2003-04 and then did so again in 2007-08, where, in his last NHL season, he captured Stanley Cup number two at the age of 43! His 81 career shutouts tie him for 6th on the all-time list, just one behind Jacques Plante. His 389 career Wins place him 15th all time, oh what could have been had Dom not spent 9 seasons playing in the Czech Republic. This legendary Hockey Hall of Famer will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most dominating players we’ll have seen in our lifetimes, hence the nickname “The Dominator”.

These red, white & grey Louisville pads have the player name “Hasek” stitched on the side. Dominik has autographed both on the front. The pads show no discernible game use therefore we are calling them game issued.
