Phaneuf was drafted 9th overall in 2003 by the Calgary Flames where he starred for 5 years before being traded to the Maple Leafs midway through the 2009-10 season. Dion tallied double-digit goal totals in each of his first 5 NHL seasons including a career high 20-goals as a rookie in 2005-06. Thus far in his career, Phaneuf has partook in 3 NHL All Star games and was a 1st Team NHL All Star selection in 2008. Looked upon as a strong leader, after only 26 games in a Leafs uniform, Phaneuf was named team Captain in Toronto. After parts of 7 seasons in Toronto, Dion was traded to the Ottawa Senators in February 2016.
