Description
Dennis Maruk Washington Capitals White Canadien Game Used Stick
Lot #615

This white Canadien Fibreglass hockey stick was game used by Dennis Maruk while playing for the Washington Capitals. The California Seals selected Maruk in the 2nd round of the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. Dennis was also drafted by the Cleveland Crusaders of the WHA. Maruk chose the Seals and entered the NHL in 1975. Standing only 5’ 8” and weighing in at 165 lbs., the odds were stacked against him. He would immediately prove the doubters wrong. In his rookie season, Dennis played in all 80 games and scored an impressive 30 goals. He moved with the franchise and spent the next 2 years with the Cleveland Barons where he registered 28 and 36 goals respectively while earning his first selection to the NHL All Star game in 1978. Following a 2-game stint with the North Stars in 1978-79, Dennis joined the Washington Capitals, where he would spend the next 5 seasons. During this time, Maruk netted 50 goals in 1980-81 and followed it up with a career high the following season. Maruk’s stellar play in 1981-82 earned him his 2nd and final All Star game appearance as he scored an incredible 60 goals and 136 points. Maruk’s final NHL stop was with the Minnesota North Stars who he represented for parts of 6 years, as injuries finally took their toll on his small frame. When all was said and done, Dennis had scored 356 goals and 878 points in a career that lasted 888 games. Not bad for a little guy who beat the odds.

This Canadien stick has the player name “D. Maruk” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
