Denis Savard Montreal Canadiens White Canadien Game Used Stick Autographed
Lot #792
This white Canadien “Savvy” hockey stick was game used by Hall of Famer Denis Savard while playing for the Montreal Canadiens. Savard broke into the NHL in 1980 as a member of the Black Hawks after being the 3rd overall selection in the 1980 NHL entry draft. He remained in the Windy City for 10 years as he showcased his immense talent. During that stretch, Denis registered five 100-point seasons, including three consecutive 40-goal campaigns. A blockbuster deal prior to the 1990-91 season sent Denis to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Hall of Famer Chris Chelios.

In the spring of 1993, in what was his final season with Les Habitants, Denis won his first and only Stanley Cup Championship as the Canadiens ousted the Gretzky led LA Kings in the Finals. Savard then spent 2 seasons helping guide the young Tampa Bay Lightning franchise before he returned to where his career began, in Chicago, for a final 3 seasons.  All told this center iceman, who became known for his “spin-o-rama”, would tally 473 goals, 865 assists and 1338 points in 1196 games while also playing in 9 NHL All Star games. During his 169-game playoff career, Denis added another 66 goals and 175 points. Denis remains the 3rd highest scorer in Chicago Blackhawks history, trailing only Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita.

This white Canadien hockey stick has the player name “Savard” stamped on the side. It also has Savard’s nickname “Savvy” on three sides. The stick has butt tape but some has been removed to make room for autographs. The blade tape has also been removed for autographs. The stick has been autographed by 14 members of the 1993 Canadiens Stanley Cup winning team including: Savard, Roy, Brisbois, Lefevre, Muller, Carbonneau, Dionne, Leclair, Skrudland, Lebeau, Desjardins and Keane. On the opposite side of some of the autographs are the player names in blue sharpie.
