Description
Dave "Tiger" Williams Los Angeles Kings Blue Cooper Game Worn Helmet
Lot #390
This rare helmet originated from the personal collection of Dave “Tiger” Williams and was gifted by Tiger to a sports museum in 1991 where it sat for nearly 25 years since just recently entering our hobby.

This blue SK2000 hockey helmet by Cooper was worn by Dave “Tiger” Williams while playing for the Los Angeles Kings. Williams was selected in the 2nd round of the 1974 NHL entry draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tiger began his career with the Leafs in 1974-75 and played 6 seasons with the Leafs before being dealt to the Vancouver Canucks for a then rookie Rick Vaive.

Tiger spent parts of 5 seasons with the Canucks before stops in Detroit, Los Angeles and Hartford. In a 14-year NHL career, Tiger scored 241 goals but was really best known for his PIMS. He is still to this day the NHL’s all-time penalty minutes leader with 3966! He accomplished that total in 962 regular season contests, leading the league in PIMS 3 times. In 83 playoff games, Tiger racked up another 455 PIMS for good measure. On three different occasions, Tiger led the NHL in playoff PIMS. Williams wasn’t without skill, and had he stayed out of the penalty box a bit more, his goal scoring ability might have shone through a bit better. In 1981 Tiger netted 35 goals and earned himself a spot in the NHL All Star game.

This blue Cooper helmet has the player number “22” on back.
