Lot #289

This Heaton Helite-5 goalie stick was game used by Curtis Joseph. CUJO began his career with St. Louis in 1989-90. He played for St. Louis for 6 seasons before moving onto the Edmonton Oilers for 3 more years. His next stop was Toronto where he backstopped the Leafs for 4 seasons before moving onto Detroit, Phoenix and Calgary. Joseph just completed his 18th NHL season and has signed a contract for 2008-09 to be the back-up goaltender in Toronto.

CUJO's 449 wins place him fourth on the all-time wins list having past Terry Sawchuk last season.
Three times an NHL All Star, CUJO was also a member of Team Canada’s 1996 World Cup of Hockey team and won Olympic Gold in Salt Lake City in 2002. He was awarded the 1999-00 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, which is given to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution to his community. With his win in last years playoffs with the Flames, CUJO became the first goaltender ever to win a playoff game as a member of 5 different team.

This Heaton goalie stick has the player name "C. Joseph" on the side. It is fully taped on the butt and blade. Curtis has autographed the stick on the paddle.
